A Case of True Precocious Puberty Successfully Treated with LHRH Analogue

Abstract

|
Precocious puberty is generally defined as the onset of scecondary sexual characteristics before the age of 9 year in boys or 8 year in girls. In girls the most common final diagnosis is idiopathic precocious puberty.
While the medroxyprogesterone acetate and cyproterone acetate have been used in decreasing secondary sexual development, they have been less effective in slowing bone age advancement and height velocity. Recently LHRH agonists have been used
widely
for
treatment of true precocious puberty.
We experiences a cases of 9 year-old girl with true precocious puberty which is successfully treated by LHRH analogue (Triptorelin) (J Kor Soc Endocrinol 7:71~75, 1992).
